Walhalla’s founder/brewer Aart van Bergen has developed a growing fascination for beers brewed with ‘alternative fermentation’. Helped by the book “American Sour Ales” by Michael Tonsmeire (aka The Mad Fermentationist) he started exploring the mystical process of brewing sour ales. Aart brewed four test batches, each fermented with different Brett, Lacto and Pedio microbes.
These four beers will be served exclusively at this tasting session. The brewer will talk about his first adventures in sour ale brewing and will expand on the different microbes, techniques and aging for each beer. Attendees will receive a sheet with specific information of all four beers.
Walhalla Craft Beer is an Amsterdam based gypsy brewer that started February this year and already won a bronze medal at the Dutch Beer Challenge for his Shakti Double IPA. Their goal is to open their own brewery & taproom within two years.
